Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

The Tigers managed seven hits and a base on balls with James McCann going 2-4 with a two run homer in the 4th.  The Tigers give Friday’s starting assignment at Houston to right hander Mike Fiers. Fiers has been outstanding the past three trips to the mound with three runs allowed over 21 innings.

The Houston Astros saw their bullpen implode for the second straight game in a 6-4 defeat to Oakland on Thursday. Houston starter Charlie Morton allowed three runs over 4.1 frames before Chris Devenski blew the save and took the loss with three runs scoring in just 1/3 of an inning.

The Astros offense consisted of five hits and five bases on balls with Tony Kemp going 1-2 with a homer, two RBI’s and two runs while Alex Bregman drove in a pair of runs. Dallas Keuchel draws the starting assignment against the visiting Tigers on Friday. Keuchel comes in off of a 2-1 in versus the White Sox with a run scoring on six hits and three BB in a seven inning effort.

Under is 6-1-1 in Detroit last 8 on grass and Detroit are 4-18 in their last 22 overall and Detroit are 3-13 in their last 16 games on grass. Houston  are 40-15 in their last 55 games on grass and  are 41-18 in their last 59 overall and  are 49-22 in their last 71 home games.

Backing the Tigers is akin to flushing your money down the toilet but Fiers has been great lately and Keuchel is hittable so if you feel adventurous…
