Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

For the Friday game, the Phillies will be sending out RHP Jake Arrieta. In his 96.0 innings and 6-6 mark this year, Arrieta has a 3.47 ERA with 69 Ks and 30 BBs.

The Phillies’ lead hitter this year is Odubel Herrera, who came into the Orioles game with 97 hits, 46 runs, 16 homers and 52 RBI. On Thursday, Herrera logged one hit.

As for the Marlins, they played the Brewers this week. Miami split the first two games, then won on Wednesday 5-4.

On Friday, the Marlins will be sending out Wei-Yin Chen on Friday. Across his 66.0 innings and 2-6 mark this year, Chen has a 6.14 ERA with 49 Ks and 27 BBs.

Starlin Castro leads the way for the Marlins this year with 110 hits, 57 runs and 36 RBI. Brian Anderson is close behind on 105 hits, 52 runs and 46 RBI.

The Phillies are 5-2 in the last seven in game one of a series and 2-8 in their last 10 Friday games. Philly is also 2-5 in Arrieta’s last seven road starts and 1-5 in his last six starts following a quality start in his last appearance.

Meanwhile, the Marlins are 9-2 in the last 11 in game one of a series and 3-10 in their last 13 games following an off day. Miami is 12-4 in Chen’s last 16 home starts and 1-4 in their last five versus the NL East.

It’s been a pretty solid run of games for Arrieta lately; he’s allowed no more than three earned runs in any of his last four starts and four combined in his last two. As for Chen, he had a couple of good outings going but faltered with seven earned in 4.1 innings his last time up. All things considered I have to go Phillies here.
