The never say die Oakland Athletics rode a late scoring burst and a strong performance by the bullpen to rally past Houston 6-4 on Wednesday. Oakland starter Trevor Cahill gave up three runs over 3.2 frames with Chris Hatcher serving up a solo bomb in he 4th before three relievers put up zeros through 4.1 innings.

The Athletics pounded out eleven hits and walked three times with Nick Martini going 3-5 with two runs knocked in while Mark Canha went 2-4 with a pair of RBI’s and a run followed by Matt Chapman who drove in a run and scored.
Oakland hands the ball to Edwin Jackson on Friday for his 4th start of 2018. Jackson defeated Cleveland 6-3 last time out with three runs (two earned) on five hits and four BB over 5.2 frames.
The San Francisco Giants have been playing well with wins in five of seven after squeezing by the visiting Cubs 5-4 in 13 innings on Wednesday. San Francisco starter Johnny Cueto gave up three runs in five frames with Tony Watson allowing a run for a BS before Dereck Rodriguez tossed three scoreless innings to pick up the in.
The Giants offense did their damage on 14 his and six bases on balls with Chase d’Arnaud going 2-7 with a solo homer while Gorkys Hernandez went 2-6 with a pair of RBI’s and a run.
Left hander Madison Bumgarner has been named the starter against the visiting Athletics on Friday. Bumgarner comes off of a 13-8 victory versus St. Louis where he gave up four runs over 5.1 frames.
