The Texas Rangers and the Baltimore Orioles meet in game two of their three game set from Camden Yards in MLB action on Saturday.

The Texas Rangers will look to build some steam after starting the series on the right foot with a 5-4 victory in the series opener on Friday. Ryan Rua led Texas by driving a pinch-hit three run home run, while Joey Gallo added a solo homer and Nomar Mazara put up a double and an RBI as well to round out Texas’ scoring in the win. Shin-Soo Choo, Robinson Chirinos and Carlos Tocci each chipped in a base hit to round out the Rangers’ offense in the victory. Cole Hamels got the win to improve to 5-8 this season after allowing all four runs on five hits while striking out three over 6.1 innings of work. Keone Kela closed out the 9th for his 23rd save of the season. Martin Perez will start game two and is 2-3 with a 9.67 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season. In his career, Perez is 2-3 with a 6.17 ERA and 25 strikeouts against Baltimore.

The Baltimore Orioles will be out to bounce back after dropping the series opener on Friday. Caleb Joseph led the O’s by going 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, while Danny Valencia added an RBI as well in the defeat. Jonathan School and Mark Trumbo each had two hits while Adam Jones added a double and Chris Davis chipped in a base hit as well to cap off Baltimore’s offense in the losing effort. Alex Cobb took the loss, falling to 2-12 this season after allowing two runs on six hits while striking out three over 6.1 innings of work. Yefry Ramirez will start game two and is 0-3 with a 3.93 ERA and 17 strikeouts this season. This will be Ramirez’s first career start against Texas.

Texas is 2-5 in their last 7 games overall and 3-7 in their last 10 games against the AL East while the under is 21-8-2 in their last 31 road games. Baltimore is 1-11 in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record and 7-21 in their last 28 games against the AL West while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 game 2 matchups. Texas is 2-6 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.

Who knows what you’re truly going to get from Perez here, making his first start in over two months and even before he went on the DL, Perez wasn’t good at all, allowing 25 runs, 24 earned, over 22.1 innings of work. This may be a good spot to side with the over, but I think it says something that the Rangers aren’t waiting until after the all-star break to bring Perez back into the fold. The Orioles have played well over the last week, but Baltimore is still one of the worst teams in the majors and sending Ramirez to the mound doesn’t help, as the O’s have lost all four games he has made an appearance in. All in all, I think Texas has more pop in their bats and should be able to eke out another win in game two on Saturday.
