Cleveland Indians vs. New York Yankees - 7/15/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

For the Sunday game, the Yankees will be rolling out Masahiro Tanaka. In his 77.0 innings and 7-2 mark this year, Tanaka has a 4.68 ERA with 78 Ks and 21 BBs.

New York’s lead hitter this year is Giancarlo Stanton, who entered the weekend on 100 hits, 58 runs, 23 homers and 55 RBI. On Saturday, Stanton was 1-for-4.

Over on the Indians’ side, they’re going with Trevor Bauer on Sunday. Across 129.1 innings and an 8-6 record this year, Bauer has a 2.30 ERA with 168 Ks and 41 BBs.

Coming into game two, Francisco Lindor led the Indians on 113 hits, 85 runs, 25 homers and 62 RBI. On Saturday, Lindor came up empty.

The Yankees are 4-1 in the last five in game four of a series and 8-3 in the last 11 Sunday games. New York is also 8-2 in Tanaka’s last 10 starts and 7-2 in his last nine road starts.

Meanwhile, the Indians are 4-1 in the last five Sunday games and 37-17 in their last 54 in game four of a series. Cleveland is 6-2 in Bauer’s last eight home starts and 5-2 in his last seven Sunday starts.

The Yankees desperately need Tanaka to be sharp every time he comes out if they’re going to make a World Series run. Trouble is, Tanaka has been fairly sketchy most of the time this season and just came back from the DL. As for Bauer, he’s got a nice run of seven straight quality starts going and is working deep into games. I’m going to have to stick with the hot hand here and go Indians.
