The Seattle Mariners and the Colorado Rockies meet in the finale of their three game interleague set from Coors Field in MLB action on Sunday.
The Seattle Mariners will be out to avoid the sweep after dropping the first two games of the series, including a 4-1 loss in game two on Saturday. Chris Herrmann accounted for the M’s lone RBI in the loss, while Ben Games, Nelson Cruz, Jean Segura and Ryon Healy each had a base knock as well to cap off Seattle’s offense as the Mariners put up just five hits as a team in the losing effort. Wade LeBlanc took the loss, falling to 5-1 this season after giving up all four runs on six hits while striking out three over 4.1 innings of work. Mike Leake will start game three and is 8-6 with a 4.36 ERA and 71 strikeouts this season. In his career, Leake is 2-2 with a 5.60 ERA and 23 strikeouts against Colorado.

The Colorado Rockies will look to finish the first half strong and complete the sweep after winning game two on Saturday. Carlos Gonzalez led the Rockies with a two run home run, while Ian Desmond and Nolan Arenado each went 2 for 4 with an RBI to round out Colorado’s scoring, with Desmond hitting a triple while Arenado doubled. Charlie Blackmon went 2 for 4 with a double of his own, while Trevor Story went 2 for 4 and Gerardo Parra added a base hit as well in the victory. Jon Gray got the win after giving up the one run on five hits while striking out six over 7.2 innings of work to climb to 8-7 this season. Wade Davis closed out the 9th for his 26th save of the season. Tyler Anderson will start the finale and is 6-3 with a 3.76 ERA and 102 strikeouts this season. This will be Anderson’s second career start against Seattle.
Seattle is 6-1 in Leake’s last 7 road starts and 1-4 in their last 5 games against the NL West while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Colorado is 1-6 in Anderson’s last 7 home starts and 8-2 in their last 10 games overall while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 home games. Seattle is 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
Leake had been rolling for a bit, but he’s hit a rough patch lately, allowing 11 runs, eight earned, over his last two starts covering just eight innings of work. Not only have the Rockies owned the first two games of the set, but they send Anderson to the mound for the finale, who has allowed just one run over his last three starts, spanning 22 innings of work, including a pair of eight inning shutouts. Gotta back Colorado to complete the sweep on Sunday.
