The Twins hammered out ten hits and walked ten times with Brian Dozier going 2-6 with a homer, five RBI’s and two runs while Eddie Rosario was 3-5 with two runs driven in and two scored followed by Joe Mauer and Robbie Grossman who each drove in a run and combined for three runs scored.
Kyle Gibson toes the rubber for the Twins in the series opener at Kansas City. Gibson has won back to back starts after downing Tampa Bay 5-1 with a run allowed over eight frames.
The struggling Kansas City Royals went in to the All Star break with losses in 13-15 after a 10-1 defeat at the White Sox on Sunday. Nothing went favorably for Kansas City with starter Burch Smith allowing two runs over two frames while three relievers combined to allow eight runs in four innings.
The Royals attack consisted of five hits and three bases on balls with Adalberto Mondesi accounting for the scoring with an 8th inning long ball.
Kansas City has named Danny Duffy as Friday’s starter against visiting Minnesota. Duffy has not allowed a run in 13 innings following a 5-0 win at the White Sox where he went seven frames.
