The Chicago Cubs look to stay hot after winning seven of their last 10 games. The Cubs have scored 21 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six straight games. The Cardinals are 4-0 in their last 4 opening games of a double-header, 4-1 in Weavers last 5 road starts and 4-1 in Weavers last 5 starts vs. National League Central. The Cubs are 6-1 in their last 7 Saturday games, 48-23 in their last 71 home games and 1-5 in their last 6 opening games of a double-header. The Cardinals are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings in Chicago, 7-15 in the last 22 meetings and the over is 4-0 in Weavers last 4 starts vs. Cubs.
This has been a weird series, as neither pitching staff can get outs without allowing crooked numbers in the process. This should be another one of those games considering Chatwood has allowed a combined 17 runs in his last 15.2 innings and has a 6.08 ERA with an allowed batting average of .261 at home this season. Weaver has had his struggles as well this season, but he's given up just five hits and three runs in his last 14 innings, and both of those performances were on the road. This game could certainly go either way, but the value is with the Cardinals here, as picking Chatwood in his current form isn't exactly a wise option.
