The Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers meet in game two of their three game set from Comerica Park in MLB action on Saturday.

The Boston Red Sox will look to stay hot after winning three straight and 13 of their last 14 games following a 1-0 win in game one on Friday. Steve Pearce accounted for the game’s lone RBI, going 2 for 4 with a double. Andrew Benintendi went 2 for 3 while Xander Bogaerts and Tzu-Wei Lin added a base knock each to round out Boston’s scoring in the win. David Price got the win to improve to 11-6 this season after throwing 6.1 four hit shutout innings, striking out five. Craig Kimberly closed out the 9th for his 31st save of the campaign. Brian Johnson will start game two and is 1-2 with a 4.20 ERA and 42 strikeouts this season. This will be Johnson’s second career start against Detroit.

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Tigers will look to bounce back after dropping game one on Friday. Niko Goodrum, Jeimer Candelario, Nick Castellanos, Leonys Martin and Jose Iglesias each had a base hit as none of the Tigers’ five hits went for extra bases in the loss. Matt Boyd took the loss, falling to 4-9 this season after allowing the lone run on three hits while striking out six over five innings of work. Mike Fiers will start game two and is 6-6 with a 3.70 ERA and 76 strikeouts this season. In his career, Fiers is 1-0 with a 2.76 ERA and 11 strikeouts against Boston.

Boston is 9-0 in Johnson’s last 9 starts and 5-0 in their last 5 games against the AL Central while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games against a right-handed starter. Detroit is 7-1 in Fiers’ last 8 home starts and 5-21 in their last 26 games overall while the under is 10-2 in their last 12 games against the AL East. Boston is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

Fiers and the Tigers would be worth a look at plus money given Fiers’ dominance at home this season. However, the Tigers are just atrocious this season, and quite frankly have nothing going right for them right now. Johnson doesn’t have the record to show for it, but the Red Sox just win when he starts and I don’t see that changing here, so I’ll back the Red Sox even if the juice isn’t pretty.
