The Minnesota Twins and the Kansas City Royals meet in game two of their three game AL Central division set in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium on Saturday.
The Minnesota Twins will look to bounce back after dropping game one on Friday by a final score of 6-5. Mitch Garver led Minnesota with two RBIs, going 1 for 3 with a triple while Eddie Rosario, Brian Dozier and Max Kepler each had an RBI as well. Robbie Grossman and Joe Bauer each went 2 for 5 while Eduardo Escobar and Jorge Polanco each had a double. Bobby Wilson added a base hit as well to round out Minnesota’s offense in the loss. Kyle Gibson took the loss, falling to 4-7 this season after allowing four runs on six hits while striking out five over 5.1 innings of work. Lance Lynn will start game two and is 7-7 with a 5.22 ERA and 91 strikeouts this season. In his career, Lynn is 2-1 with a 5.09 ERA and 24 strikeouts against Kansas City.

The Kansas City Royals will look to pick up some steam after winning game one on Friday. Lucas Duda led KC with three RBIs, going 3 for 4 with a home run, while Salvador Perez went 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Hunter Dozier added a two-bagger and an RBI of his own to round out the Royals’ scoring in the win. Alcides Escobar went 2 for 3 while Whit Merrifield went 1 for 4 to cap off KC’s offense in the victory. Danny Duffy got the win to improve to 6-8 this season after allowing one run on five hits while striking out four over seven innings of work. Brandon Maurer picker up his first save of the season by closing out the 9th. Jakob Junis will start game two and is 5-10 with a 5.13 ERA and 92 strikeouts this season. In his career, Junis is 0-1 with a 3.71 ERA and 18 strikeouts against Minnesota.
Minnesota is 5-2 in Lynn’s last 7 division starts and 7-19 in their last 26 road games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Kansas City is 0-7 in Junis’ last 7 starts and 15-43 in their last 58 games overall while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 home games. Minnesota is 17-36 in the last 53 meetings between these two teams in Kansas City.
I was thinking about taking the over, as Lynn is still hard to trust for me as he’s given up four or more runs in three of his last four starts. However, we are getting a reasonable line to fade the Royals and especially Junis, who has given up five or more earned runs in four of his last five starts and a combined 29 runs, 28 earned, over that five start span covering 29 innings. Minnesota had their chances in game one, but I like them to rebound here and tee off on Junis so I’ll back the Twins.
