The Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles square off in game two of their three game AL East division set from Camden Yards in MLB action on Tuesday.

The Boston Red Sox will look to keep the ball rolling after taking Monday’s opener by a final score of 5-3. Andrew Benintendi led the BoSox by going 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, while Mitch Moreland belted a solo home run. J.D. Martinez and Jackie Bradley Jr. each added an RBI to round out Boston’s scoring in the win, while Xander Bogaerts added a double and Mookie Betts and Rafael Devers added a base hit as well in the victory. Rick Porcello got the win to improve to 11-4 this season after tossing six shutout innings, striking out six while allowing six hits. Craig Kimbrel closed out the 9th for his 31st save of the year. Drew Pomeranz will start game two and is 1-3 with a 6.81 ERA and 36 strikeouts this season. In his career, Pomeranz is 2-4 with a 4.01 ERA and 37 strikeouts against Baltimore.

The Baltimore Orioles will look to bounce back after dropping the series opener on Monday. Jonathan Schoop led the O’s, going 2 for 4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Caleb Joseph matched that mark at the dish with an RBI of his own to round out the scoring, while Tim Beckham also went 2 for 4. Trey Mancini and Renato Nunez each added a double while Adam Jones, Mark Trumbo and Jace Peterson each contributed a base knock to cap off Baltimore’s offense in the loss. Kevin Gausman took the loss after allowing all five runs on three hits over just 4.2 innings of work to fall to 4-7 this season. Yefry Ramirez will start game two and is 0-3 with a 3.09 ERA and 24 strikeouts this season. This will be Ramirez’s second career start against Boston.

Boston is 1-4 in Pomeranz’s last 5 division starts and 40-16 in their last 56 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a right-handed starter. Baltimore is 13-40 in their last 53 games overall and 18-39 in their last 57 home games while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 6 division matchups. Boston is 12-1 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams.

As good as Boston is, I can’t lay juice with Pomeranz in his first start in almost two months, and if we’re being honest, Pomeranz wasn’t very good before he went on the shelf, allowing four runs in his last three starts. Ramirez has been a serviceable arm for the O’s, and they could steal this one, but I can’t bring myself to back Baltimore even with some decent plus money at home. Instead, I’m going to side with the over as I see this one hitting double digits by the end of the game.
