The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies meet in game two of their three game set from Citizens’ Bank Park in MLB action on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to keep the ball rolling after a series opening 7-6 win over the Phils on Monday. Max Muncy led the Dodgers by going 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs. Joc Pederson, Yasmani Grandal and Chris Taylor each added a solo homer while Matt Kemp chipped in an RBI of his own. Manny Machado added a triple to cap off the Dodgers’ offense in the winning effort. Ross Stripling gave up five runs on seven hits while striking out six, not factoring in the decision. Scott Alexander picked up the win to improve to 1-0 this season while Kenley Jansen picked up his 29th save of the year. Kenta Maeda will start game two and is 7-5 with a 3.12 ERA and 108 strikeouts this season. In his career, Maeda is 3-1 with a 4.37 ERA and 26 strikeouts against Philadelphia.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Phillies will be looking to rebound after dropping the opener on Monday. All of the Phillies’ damage on the scoreboard was done with the long ball, as Rhys Hoskins belted a three run shot while Maikel Franco went 3 for 4 with a pair of solo jacks and Odubel Herrera added a solo shot of his own to round out the scoring. Jesmuel Valentin added a double while Jorge Alfaro and Carlos Santana each chipped in a base hit to cap off Philly’s offense in the loss. Zach Eflin gave up three runs on five hits over 2.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Seranthony Dominguez took the loss to fall to 1-3 this season. Aaron Nola will start game two and is 12-3 with a 2.30 ERA and 131 strikeouts this season. In his career, Nola is 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 15 strikeouts against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles is 1-4 in Maeda’s last 5 road starts against a team with a winning record and 19-7 in their last 26 road games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games against the NL East. Philadelphia is 17-4 in Nola’s last 21 home starts and 6-1 in their last 7 home games while the under is 16-6-1 in their last 23 games overall. The Dodgers are 4-1 in Maeda’s last 5 starts against Philadelphia.

I can understand why the public would lean towards the Dodgers as L.A. has a deadly lineup from 1 through 9. However, it’s not often that you get a staff ace and potential Cy Young candidate like Nola with such a low line. It’s not like the Phillies were blown out on Monday, as I think Philadelphia can keep up with the Dodgers offensively. So given the pitching advantage, I think the Phillies hold some serious value on Tuesday, and I’m all over it.
