The San Francisco Giants and the Seattle Mariners square off in the finale of their mini two game interleague set in MLB action from Safeco Field on Wednesday.

The San Francisco Giants will look to complete the two game sweep after taking the opener on Tuesday by a final score of 4-3. Hunter Pence had a solo home run, while Kelby Tomlinson went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI and Chase D’Arnaud added an RBI as well in the win. Steven Duggar went 2 for 4 while Pablo Sandoval, Andrew McCutchen, Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford and Austin Slater all added base hits in the victory. Andrew Suarez gave up all three runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Tony Watson got the win to improve to 3-3 this season while Will Smith closed out the 9th for his 4th save of the year. Derek Holland will start game two and is 5-8 with a 4.06 ERA and 105 strikeouts this season. In his career, Holland is 13-6 with a 3.73 ERA and 138 strikeouts against Seattle.

The Seattle Mariners will look to salvage a series split after dropping game one on Tuesday. Guillermo Heredia belted a solo home run while Denard Span and Ben Games each added an RBI as well in the losing effort. Kyle Seager went 2 for 4 while Jean Segura, Mitch Haniger, Nelson Cruz, Ryon Healy and Mike Zunino each added a base hit in the losing effort. Elias Diaz ended up with the loss, falling to 0-3 this season. Mike Leake will start game two and is 8-6 with a 4.22 ERA and 75 strikeouts this season. In his career, Leake is 5-2 with a 4.81 ERA and 47 strikeouts against San Francisco.

San Francisco is 5-2 in their last 7 Wednesday games and 1-4 in their last 5 games against the AL West while the under is 16-7-1 in their last 24 games overall. Seattle is 9-4 in Leake’s last 13 starts and 24-8 in their last 32 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Seattle.

The Mariners had their chances in game one, but in the end the bullpen let them down which has been a rare occurrence for much of the year. The Mariners have lost Leake’s last three starts, but were pretty solid with him on the mound before that and have been tough to beat at home during this hot stretch that they’ve been on. Who knows what we are going to see from Holland in a spot start here, so while the Giants could very well win this game on Wednesday, I think the Mariners salvage a split.
