The Toronto Blue Jays and the Chicago White Sox duke it out in game two of their three game set from Guaranteed Rate Field in MLB action on Saturday.

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to build some momentum after picking up a 10-5 win in the series opener on Friday. Curtis Grandson, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Randal Grichuk each had a home run and two RBIs, with Gurriel Jr. putting up a pair of solo blasts with a double as well, going 3 for 5 at the plate. Kendrys Morales added a solo shot while Justin Smoak and Russell Martin each had a double and an RBI to round out the offense for the Jays in the win. Marcus Stroman got the win to improve to 4-7 this season after giving up two runs on seven hits while striking out three over 6.2 innings of work. John Axford will start game two and is 4-1 with a 4.69 ERA and 47 strikeouts this season. This will be Axford’s first career start against the White Sox.

Patrick Gorski-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago White Sox will be looking to rebound after yet another loss in the series opener on Friday. Adam Engel led the White Sox by going 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, while Nicky Delmonico went 2 for 4 with a pair of triples and an RBI. Tim Anderson added a two-bagger and an RBI of his own, while Jose Abreu chipped in a run to cap off Chicago’s scoring in the loss. Daniel Palka and Avisail Garcia each went 2 for 4 with Palka adding a double while Yoan Moncada chipped in a base hit in the losing effort. Reynaldo Lopez took the loss, falling to 4-9 this season after giving up eight runs on seven hits while walking four and striking out three over 4.1 innings of work. Lucas Giolito will start game two and is 7-8 with a 6.09 ERA and 68 strikeouts this season. This will be Giolito’s first career start against Toronto.

Toronto is 5-2 in their last 7 Saturday games and 1-5 in their last 6 games against the AL Central while the under is 10-4 in their last 14 game 2 matchups. Chicago is 3-7 in Giolito’s last 10 home starts and 1-7 in their last 8 Saturday games while the under is 6-3 in their last 9 games against the AL East. Toronto is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.

This will be Axford’s first career start in the majors in his 10 year career, so I’m not expecting much more than Toronto to be using a ton of their bullpen. On the other hand, Giolito has pitched better, but it’s still hard to back a bad team like the White Sox with a pitcher that has a decent record but an ERA well over six. Seems like a prime spot for the over to cash in on Saturday.
