For the Sunday game, the Blue Jays will be bringing out LHP Ryan Borucki. In his 29.0 innings and 0-2 record this year, Borucki has a 2.79 ERA with 23 Ks and 10 BBs.
Leading the way for the Jays in hitting this year is Yangervis Solarte, with 92 hits, 45 runs, 17 homers and 52 RBI entering the weekend. On Saturday, Solarte put up a hit and an RBI.
Over on the Sox’ side, they’re going with Carlos Rodon on Sunday. Over his 50.2 innings and 3-3 mark this year, Rodon has a 3.38 ERA with 43 Ks and 20 BBs.
Heading into game two, Jose Abreu led the Sox in hitting on 101 hits, 51 runs, 16 homers and 59 RBI. On Saturday, Abreu had two hits and a run.
The Blue Jays are 1-5 in their last six in game three of a series and 1-4 in Borucki’s last five starts. The over is 8-2 in the Jays’ last 10 Sunday games and the under is 4-1 in Borucki’s last five starts overall.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 2-8 in their last 10 in game three of a series and 4-1 in Rodon’s last five Sunday starts. Chicago is also 6-2 in Rodon’s last eight home starts and 1-4 in his last five starts with four days’ rest.
Borucki’s record looks pretty bad this year but he’s pitched pretty well in spite of it, with only one bad game in his five starts (four earned in 3.0 innings against the Red Sox). Rodon’s done pretty well lately as well, with three straight quality starts under his belt coming into this one. This should be a fun pitching matchup, and I’m thinking Borucki could finally get a win here. I’ll go Jays.
