The Philadelphia Phillies and the Cincinnati Reds will square off in the finale of their four game set from Great American Ballpark in MLB action on Sunday.

The Philadelphia Phillies will look to rebound and salvage a series split after dropping game three on Saturday by a final score of 6-2. Rhys Hoskins accounted for both Philadelphia RBIs in the loss, going 1 for 4 with a home run. Maikel Franco added a double while Nick Williams and Cesar Hernandez each added a base hit as the Phils cranked out just four hits as a team in the losing effort. Vince Velasquez allowed two runs on six hits while walking five and striking out four over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Tommy Hunter took the loss, falling to 2-1 this season. Zach Eflin will start game four and is 7-2 with a 3.41 ERA and 68 strikeouts this season. This will be Eflin’s second career start against Cincinnati.

The Cincinnati Reds will look to win the series after taking game three on Saturday. Joey Votto led the Reds with two RBIs, going 3 for 4 at the dish. Scooter Gennett, Eugenio Suarez, Tucker Barnhart and Billy Hamilton each had an RBI to round out the scoring for Cincinnati in the win, with Gennett, Barnhart and Hamilton each adding a double. Jose Peraza went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles while Mason Williams added a base hit as well to finish off Cincy’s offense in the win. Matt Harvey gave up two runs on two hits while striking out five over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Wandy Peralta got the win to improve to 2-2 this season while Jared Hughes closed out the 9th for his 7th save of the year. Luis Castillo will start the finale and is 5-8 with a 5.30 ERA and 101 strikeouts this season. This will be Castillo’s second career start against Philadelphia.

Philadelphia is 6-2 in Eflin’s last 8 starts and 4-0 in Eflin’s last 4 starts against the NL Central while the under is 21-10-2 in their last 33 Sunday games. Cincinnati is 4-1 in Castillo’s last 5 starts against a team with a winning record and 6-1 in Castillo’s last 7 home starts while the over is 6-0 in their last 6 Sunday games. Philadelphia is 3-15 in the last 18 meetings between these two teams in Cincinnati.

The Reds have gotten the upper hand in the last couple of meetings but I think the Phillies can salvage a split here. Eflin has been one of the better under the radar pitchers in the majors, allowing three runs or less in each of his last eight starts. Castillo has pitched well lately but he still has an ERA well over five this season and getting Philadelphia at plus money seems too good to pass on on Sunday.
