The Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet in game one of a four game set from Dodger Stadium in MLB action on Monday.

The Milwaukee Brewers will look to bounce back after failing to complete the sweep of the Giants, including an 8-5 loss in the series finale on Sunday. Ryan Braun led the Brew Crew with two RBIs, going 1 for 4 with a home run. Hernan Perez and Travis Shaw each hit a solo shot while Lorenzo Cain added an RBI as well despite going 0 for 5 at the dish in the loss. Christian Yelich and Manny Pina each went 2 for 4 while Orlando Arcia added a double and Mike Moustakas and Eric Thames each chipped in a base hit to cap off Milwaukee’s offense in the loss. Junior Guerra took the loss to fall to 6-7 this season after allowing five runs on five hits while striking out five over four innings of work. Freddy Peralta will start game one and is 4-2 with a 3.74 ERA and 57 strikeouts this season. This will be Peralta’s first career start against the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will also be looking to rebound after failing to complete the sweep themselves, dropping Sunday’s series finale against the Atlanta Braves by a final score of 4-1. The Dodgers were being no-hit by Braves pitcher Sean Newcomb, getting down to their final strike before Chris Taylor cracked a single to break up the bid. Manny Machado added a base hit and an RBI as well as the Dodgers mustered up just two hits in the loss, with the rest of the team going 0 for 21 with 6 strikeouts. Ross Stripling took the loss, falling to 8-3 this season after allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out five over four innings of work. Kenta Maeda will start the opener and is 7-5 with a 3.27 ERA and 115 strikeouts this season. In his career, Maeda is 2-1 with a 2.01 ERA and 28 strikeouts against Milwaukee.

Milwaukee is 20-7 in their last 27 games against the NL West and 4-9 in their last 13 road games while the over is 4-0 in Peralta’s last 4 starts overall. Los Angeles is 4-1 in Maeda’s last 5 starts against the NL Central and 17-4 in their last 21 series opening matchups while the over is 8-1 in their last 9 games against the NL Central. The under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams in Los Angeles.

Peralta has been solid for much of his rookie campaign, but is coming off of his worst outing, where he allowed seven runs in six innings to a good, but inconsistent Nationals team. Now he has to try to rebound against a Dodgers team that is one of the more dangerous lineups top to bottom in the majors, and will come out firing after nearly being no-hit on Sunday. Maeda got touched up a bit himself last time out, but that broke a string of five straight starts with two runs or less and eight of his last nine and he has an ERA just over two against Milwaukee in his career. I like the Dodgers to bounce back on Monday behind a strong effort from Maeda.
