The Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers continue their interleague series in Wednesday MLB action.
The Cincinnati Reds offense stalled Tuesday and a strong effort on the mound went for naught in a 2-1 loss at Detroit. Cincinnati starter Homer Bailey tossed eight innings with both runs plated to absorb the loss.

The Reds offense was limited to five hits and a walk with Eugenio Suarez cracking a 9th inning sacrifice fly that scored Phillip Ervin who tripled.
Cincinnati has named Sal Romano as Wednesday’s starter at the Tigers. Romano has made 20 starts and two relief appearances in 2018 where he has gone 6-8 with a 5.04 ERA.
The Detroit Tigers didn’t do much offensively but Matthew Boyd didn’t need much help. Boyd tossed eight scoreless frames and struck out eight to get the win while Shane Greene gave up the lone run in the 9th to make Detroit squirm.
The Tigers did their damage on three hits and a base on balls with Niko Goodrum clubbing his 10th long ball while Mike Gerber logged an RBI double that plated Jose Iglesias.
Veteran right hander Mike Fiers toes the rubber against visiting Cincinnati. Fiers did not get a decision in an 8-3 loss to Cleveland with three runs plated on five hits and two walks in six innings.
Over is 8-0 in Cincinnati last 8 road games and Cincinnati are 9-2 in their last 11 interleague games and over is 33-16-3 in Cincinnati last 52 overall. Under is 10-1-1 in Detroit last 12 Wednesday games and Detroit are 7-20 in their last 27 games on grass and Detroit are 9-25 in their last 34 overall.
Cincinnati is the better team but in my view I look at Fiers who has strong numbers and gives Detroit an edge on the mound…
