The Cubs totaled nine hits and four walks with Javier Baez going 3-4 with three RBI’s while Addison Russell smacking a run scoring double.

Left hander Cole Hamels makes his first start for the Cubs since being traded by the Rangers. Hamels has made 20 starts in 2018 and has gone 5-9 with a 4.72 ERA which is the highest of his career.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have climbed back in to contention in the NL Central and picked up a game in the standings with Tuesday’s victory. Pittsburgh starter Jameson Taillon gave up three runs through seven frames to up his record to 8-8.

The Pirates banged out eight hits and walked three times with Gregory Polanco going deep and scoring three while Francisco Cervelli had two hits with a homer and a pair of RBI’s followed by David Freese with two RB’s and a run.

Nick Kingham has been tabbed to take the mound against Cubs for the third time in 2018. Kingham saw a three game winning streak end in a 12-6 defeat versus the Mets with six runs scoring over three frames.

Under is 6-1 in Chicago last 7 overall and under is 6-1 in Chicago last 7 on grass. Pittsburgh are 13-3 in their last 16 overall and  are 13-3 in their last 16 games on grass and  are 8-2 in their last 10 Wednesday games. Under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and Chicago are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Pittsburgh.

I guess it would be fitting that Hamels comes up big in his Cubs debut but the Pirates have been on the upswing and I’d put something on them…
