The Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox square off in the finale of their three game AL Central division set from Guaranteed Rate Field in MLB action on Thursday.

The Kansas City Royals will look to complete the sweep after taking game two on Wednesday by a final score of 10-5. Alex Gordon led KC by going 2 for 4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs. Lucas Duda, Rosell Herrera, Brett Phillips and Ryan O’Hearn each had an RBI, with Herrera and Phillips each adding a double. Salvador Perez added a double as well while Whit Merrifield and Adalberto Mondesi each chipped in a base knock as well to cap off the Royals’ offense in the win. Jakob Junis got the win to improve to 6-11 this season after allowing four runs on six hits while striking out five over 5.2 innings of work. Brad Keller will start game three and is 4-4 with a 3.43 ERA and 45 strikeouts this season. This will be Keller’s second career start against the White Sox.

Patrick Gorski-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago White Sox will look to salvage a win after dropping the first two games of the set including Wednesday’s defeat. Leury Garcia led the White Sox, going 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Yoan Moncada added a solo home run while Daniel Palka chipped in an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for the White Sox in the loss. Tim Anderson went 2 for 4 with a double while Yolmer Sanchez and Jose Abreu each added a double as well. Kevan Smith chipped in a base hit as well to round out Chicago’s offense in defeat. Dylan Covey took the loss, falling to 4-7 this season after allowing seven runs, four earned, on five hits over 4.1 innings of work. Reynaldo Lopez will start the finale and is 4-9 with a 4.57 ERA and 86 strikeouts this season. In his career, Lopez is 2-1 with a 3.90 ERA and 16 strikeouts against Kansas City.

Kansas City is 1-4 in Keller’s last 5 road starts and 18-38 in their last 56 road games while the under is 6-2-2 in their last 10 games overall. Chicago is 0-4 in Lopez’s last 4 starts and 1-5 in their last 6 games overall while the over is 6-1 in Lopez’s last 7 starts. The over is 3-1-1 in Lopez’s last 5 starts against Kansas City.

The Royals have had the upper hand in this series, but backing Kansas City is still hard to stomach, and it doesn’t help that Keller has given up three or more runs in each of his last four starts and gave up five earned in just 2.2 innings in his lone start against the White Sox this season. On the flip side, the White Sox don’t deserve to be a favorite, and Lopez has allowed five runs or more in each of his last three starts, totalling 18 earned over 17 innings of work. Seems like a good spot for the over to hit in my opinion.
