Headed our way from Citizens Bank Park on Thursday, the Miami Marlins and the Philadelphia Phillies will be kicking off their MLB set.

The Marlins just finished up against the Braves. Miami lost the first two games of that set 5-3 and 11-6, then on Wednesday, we had a rainout and postponement. That game was rescheduled for August 13 as the first part of a doubleheader.

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

For the Thursday game, the Marlins will be going with RHP Pablo Lopez due to the Wednesday rainout. Lopez has a 2-2 record, a 5.34 ERA and 23 Ks in 28.2 innings.

Top Marlins hitter Starlin Castro leads the team with 122 hits, 62 runs and 40 RBI coming into this set. Close behind is Brian Anderson, with 120 hits, 63 runs and 51 RBI.

Over on the Phillies’ side, they’re fresh off a set versus the Red Sox. Philadelphia took a 2-1 loss in the opener of that matchup, but bounced back to split with a 3-1 win on Tuesday.

The Phillies are sending out Nick Pivetta for the start on Thursday. Across 107.2 innings and a 6-9 mark this season, Pivetta has a 4.85 ERA with 134 Ks and 32 BBs.

Odubel Herrera leads the way for the Phillies on offense this season with 113 hits, 53 runs, 19 homers and 58 RBI. Close behind is Cesar Hernandez with 106 hits, 66 runs and 35 RBI to his credit so far.

The Marlins are 1-4 in their last five during game one of a series and 4-23 in their last 27 Thursday games. Miami is 20-44 in their last 64 road games versus a team with a winning record and the over is 12-4 in their last 16 road games.

Meanwhile, the Phillies are 4-0 in their last four Thursday games and 8-2 in their last 10 home games. Philadelphia is also 1-4 in their last five overall and 3-8 in Pivetta’s last 11 starts.

This will be Lopez’s sixth Major League start since getting his call-up in late June. As for Pivetta, he’s been a little rough over his last pair, with nine earned in 11.1 innings. The Phillies should win this game, but I like Richards enough to take the Marlins as a value pick here.
