The Cincinnati Reds visit the nation’s capital to take the field with the Washington Nationals in a Thursday MLB tilt.

The Cincinnati Reds couldn’t control the scoreboard in falling 7-4 at Detroit Wednesday for back defeats. Cincinnati starter Sal Romano dropped to 6-9 with four runs allowed in 5.1 frames while three relievers gave up a run each.

The Reds offense managed eleven hits and a pair of free passes with all four runs scoring in the 7th. Curt Casali doubled in two with Billy Hamilton smacking an RBI single followed by Preston Tucker who drove in a run and scored.

Cincinnati sends Tyler Mahle to the hill Thursday to oppose the Nationals. Mahle has struggled the past three times out with 14 earned runs given up 20 hits including five homers in nine combined innings.

The Washington Nationals are looking to go on a prolonged hot streak to get themselves back in the NL East race. Washington might be on their way after a 5-3 win versus the Mets gave the team consecutive victories. Nationals starter Tommy Milone gave up a run over seven frames to get the win.

The Nats offense consisted of seven hits and a par of free passes with Anthony Rendon clubbing a two run bomb while Bryce Harper knocked in a run and scored followed by Trea Turner scored three times.

Max Scherzer toes the rubber against Cincinnati for the second time in 2018. Scherzer comes in off of a 9-1 victory at Miami with an unearned run given up while striking out eleven through eight innings.

Over is 8-1 in Cincinnati last 9 road games and over is 22-9-2 in Cincinnati last 33 overall and over is 22-9-2 in Cincinnati last 33 on grass. Washington are 5-2 in their last 7 home games and Washington are 9-4 in their last 13 vs. National League Central. Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Washington and Cincinnati are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Washington.

The problem with backing Washington here is the team disappears at times and that has happened often. I still have to back the Nationals…
