For Friday’s matchup, the Orioles will be bringing out RHP David Hess. In his 50.0 innings and 2-5 record this year, Hess has a 5.94 ERA and 30 Ks.
Baltimore’s top hitter this year is Adam Jones, who brought 119 hits, 41 runs, 11 homers and 44 RBI into this set. On Thursday, Jones plated a run.
Over on the Rangers’ side, we’ll be seeing Ariel Jurado on the mound Friday. Across 10.2 innings and a 1-1 mark this year, Jurado has a 4.22 ERA with four Ks and three walks.
Tops in hitting for the Rangers is Shin-Soo Choo, who entered this set on 110 hits, 61 runs, 20 homers and 51 RBI. On Thursday, Choo had two hits and two runs.
The Orioles are 15-36 in their last 51 in game two of a series and 1-4 in their last five Friday games. The under is 7-3 in Baltimore’s last 10 Friday games and the over is 5-1-1 in their last seven games versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are 1-7 in their last eight during game two of a series and the over is 5-2-1 in their last eight Friday games. Texas is 5-1 in their last six overall and 1-5 in their last seven versus the AL East.
There’s not much to go on with Jurado at the MLB level this year. He had one start back on May 19 (4.2 innings; six hits; four earned) against the White Sox and one on July 28 that was much better (6.0 innings; two hits; one earned) versus the Astros in Houston. If Jurado can handle the world champs, I think he can take Baltimore here. Give me Texas.
