The Kansas City Royals and the Minnesota Twins meet in game two of their three game set from Target Field in MLB action on Saturday.

The Kansas City Royals will be looking to rebound after dropping game one of the series by a final score of 6-4 on Friday. Salvador Perez led KC by going 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, while Alex Gordon and Lucas Duda each added an RBI as well to round out the Royals’ scoring in the loss. Whit Merrifield went 3 for 5 at the plate while Rosell Herrera, Hunter Dozier and Adalberto Mondesi each contributed a base hit as well in the losing efforts. Heath Fillmyer gave up three runs on five hits while walking and whiffing three apiece, not factoring in the decision. Brian Flynn ended up with the loss to fall to 2-3 this season. Burch Smith will start game two and is 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA and 55 strikeouts this season. This will be Smith’s second career start against Minnesota.

Minnesota Twins vs. Kansas City Royals - 8/4/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Twins will look to keep their momentum going after a series opening win on Friday. Miguel San led the Twins, going 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, while Jorge Polanco added atwo hits with a double and an RBI as well. Joe Bauer, Logan Forsythe and Jake Cave each added an RBI to cap off Minny’s scoring in the win, while Eddie Rosario went 2 for 5 and Logan Morrison and Mitch Garver each added a base hit to cap off the Twins’ offense. Jake Odorizzi gave up two runs on four hits over 3.1 innings of work, not factoring in the decision while Gabriel Moya picked up the win to climb to 1-0 this season. Jose Berrios will start game two and is 10-8 with a 3.56 ERA and 142 strikeouts this season. In his career, Berrios is 1-1 with a 5.51 ERA and 22 strikeouts against Kansas City.

Kansas City is 17-35 in their last 52 road games and 14-38 in their last 52 games overall while the over is 3-1-1 in their last 5 division matchups. Minnesota is 18-4 in Berrios’ last 22 home starts and 11-4 in their last 15 home games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Minnesota is 1-5 in Berrios’ last 6 starts against Kansas City.

This is a steep price considering that Berrios has an ERA well over five in his career against the Royals. However, Berrios has been the Twins’ best pitcher this season, and held the Royals to just one run over seven innings in his lone start against KC this season and is 7-2 with an ERA just under three at home this season. Smith has gotten lit up by the Twins in his career to the tune of 11 earned runs in just 6.1 innings of work. I think the Twins chase Smith early and for that reason I’ll back the Twins on the run line to negate the heavy juice.
