The Washington Nationals battle the Cincinnati Reds in Saturday MLB action.
The Cincinnati Reds are out of the running as far as the playoff race is concerned but the team has been doing well for several weeks. Cincinnati has solid offensive numbers with 4.64 runs scored on a .256 batting average to rank 11th in the game.

The Reds biggest concern has been on the mound with a team ERA of 4.74 which is number 25. The Cincinnati pitching puts too many runners on base and the pen is generally called on too early in games.
Matt Harvey toes the rubber at Washington for the second time in 2018. Harvey picked up a 6-2 victory at Philadelphia last time out with a pair of runs allowed on two hits and two BB in five innings.
The Washington Nationals did not make any significant additions to the team at the lineup at the trade deadline but are hoping to make a run at the NL East title anyway. Washington has decent offensive numbers with 4.63 runs scored while clubbing 131 long balls and stealing 82 bases.
The Nationals are paced by their work on the mound with a 3.84 ERA that ranks number nine. The Nats do not put many runners on base with a 1.22 WHIP and the starters tend to go deep in to games while only 45 errors have been committed.
The Nationals send Jeremy Hellickson to the mound to oppose the visiting Reds. Hellickson did not look sharp in a 5-0 loss at the Marlins where he was charged with five runs (three earned) over 4.2 frames.
Over is 12-3-1 in Cincinnati last 16 road games and Cincinnati are 12-26 in their last 38 Saturday games and over is 34-16-3 in Cincinnati last 53 overall. Washington are 6-2 in their last 8 overall and Washington are 6-2 in their last 8 games on grass and under is 11-4 in Washington last 15 Saturday games. Cincinnati are 2-14 in the last 16 meetings.
The second game of a doubleheader is always tough to predict because we don’t always know lineups but I’ll take a shot with the plus odds…
