The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets meet in the rubber match of their three game set from Citi Field in MLB action on Sunday.
The Atlanta Braves will look to rebound after dropping game two on Saturday by a final score of 3-0. Freddie Freeman went 2 for 4 with a double while Tyler Flowers, Dansby Swanson and Adam Duvall each had a base hit as well as Atlanta put up just five hits as a team in the losing effort. Kevin Gausman took the loss in his Braves debut, giving up all three runs on six hits over five innings of work. Julio Teheran will start game three and is 8-7 with a 4.46 ERA and 105 strikeouts this season. In his career, Teheran is 9-6 with a 2.33 ERA and 106 strikeouts against the Mets.

The New York Mets will look to build some momentum and win the series after their victory in game two on Saturday. Austin Jackson went 2 for 4 with an RBI while Amed Rosario and Kevin Plawecki each added an RBI despite going hitless to round out the scoring for New York in the win. Jeff McNeil went 4 for 4 with a double while Michael Conforto went 2 for 4 and Todd Frazier added a base hit of his own to round out New York’s offense in the winning effort. Zack Wheeler got the win to improve to 6-6 this season after throwing seven innings of three hit shutout ball, striking out nine en route to the win. Robert Gsellman closed out the 9th for his 6th save of the year. Corey Oswalt will start game three and is 1-2 with a 5.27 ERA and 19 strikeouts this season. This will be Oswalt’s first career start against Atlanta.
Atlanta is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 1-4 in Teheran’s last 5 road starts while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 game 4 matchups. New York is 1-5 in their last 6 division matchups and 10-24 in their last 34 home games while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games overall. Atlanta is 4-1 in Teheran’s last 5 road starts against the Mets.
Teheran has been shaky at times this season and is a sub-.500 pitcher with an ERA just under five on the road this season. However, Teheran has allowed just two runs in 21 innings against the Mets this season, leading to a 0.86 ERA. I just don’t trust Oswalt enough to back him here and in the grand scheme of things, going against the Mets this season has worked more often than not. I like the price we are getting with the Braves to win the series so I’ll lay the juice with Atlanta here.
