For the Sunday game, the Reds will be sending out RHP Luis Castillo. In his 115.2 innings and 6-8 mark this year, Castillo has a 4.98 ERA with 110 Ks and 37 BBs.
Scooter Gennett leads the way in hitting for the Reds this year. In the nightcap of the doubleheader Saturday, Gennett was 0-for-4.
Over on the Nationals’ side, they’re going with Tanner Roark on Sunday. Over his 115.2 innings a 6-8 record this year, Roark has a 4.98 ERA with 110 Ks and 37 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Nationals this season is Trea Turner, who in the Saturday doubleheader nightcap put up an 0-for-5 line.
The Reds are 4-1 in the last five in game four of a series and 6-1 in Castillo’s last seven starts. Cincinnati is also 4-0 in Castillo’s last four starts in game four of a series and 5-1 in his last six starts versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the Nats are 1-4 in their last five in game four of a series and 4-1 in Roark’s last five starts versus the NL Central. Washington is 2-7 in Roark’s last nine starts and 2-5 in his last seven home starts.
Castillo has looked pretty good lately, allowing just seven combined earned runs across his last five starts—but he only got one win in that time. As for Roark, he was great in his last start versus Philly with 7.0 innings, four hits and no earned. It’s really tough to predict what the Nats will do on a day-to-day basis, and frankly I’m tired of getting burned by them. I’m just going to go Cincy here.
