Coors Field and the Colorado Rockies host the Pittsburgh Pirates in Monday MLB action.
The Pittsburgh Pirates were the hottest team in the game a few short weeks ago but have dropped six of ten following a 2-1 defeat to St. Louis on Sunday. Pittsburgh starter Trevor Williams absorbed the loss and fell to 9-8 with both runs allowed over five frames while four relievers put up zeros.

The Pirates were limited to five hits and a pair of bases on balls with Adam Frazier accounting for the scoring with home run number ten in the 7th inning.
The Pirates have named Joe Musgrove as Monday’s starter at the Rockies who he faces for the first time. Musgrove comes in off of a 1-0 defeat to the Mets with a run plated on five hits and two BB in seven frames.
The Colorado Rockies are in need of a long hot streak and might be on their way after a 5-4, eleven inning victory at Milwaukee on Sunday snapped a four game slide. Colorado starter Jon Gray gave up a run in eight frames while Adam Ottavino allowed three 9th inning runs.
The Rockies attack consisted of seven hits and seven walks with Trevor story clubbing a grand slam while Nolan Arenado went 3-5 with a homer and two runs followed by DJ LeMathieu with a pair of runs.
Kyle Freeland toes the rubber versus visiting Pittsburgh for the second time this year. Freeland absorbed a 6-3 loss at St. Louis last time out with three runs scoring on nine hits and three walks over 5.1 frames.
Pittsburgh are 15-5 in their last 20 overall and Pittsburgh are 15-5 in their last 20 games on grass and over is 13-5 in Pittsburgh last 18 road games. Under is 12-3-1 in Colorado last 16 home games and Colorado are 16-5 in their last 21 home games and under is 21-4 in Freeland’s last 25 home starts. Pittsburgh are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings in Colorado.
Neither team has been doing all that well but Freeland has some solid numbers that has me favoring the Rockies…
