Thursday MLB action brings us out west where the Pittsburgh Pirates visit the San Francisco Giants.

The Pirates pounded out eleven hits and walked five times with Colin Moran and Gregory Polanco each drove in a run and scored while Corey Dickerson and Josh Bell recorded RBI’s.

The Pirates send veteran Ivan Nova to the hill at San Francisco Thursday. Nova absorbed an 8-4 loss at St. Louis last time out with four runs given up on eight hit and three BB in four innings.

The San Francisco Giants need a change in momentum after suffering losses in four of five following a 2-1 defeat versus Houston. San Francisco starter Madison Bumgarner struck out seven over seven shutout innings before Ray Black surrendered a to run homer n the 8th to get the loss.

The Giants offense consisted of four hits and three bases on balls with Chase d’Arnaud knocking in Brandon Crawford with the lone run in the second.

Andrew Suarez has been named the starter against Pittsburgh who he sees for the second time. Suarez was hit hard last time out n a 9-3 loss at Arizona with eight runs allowed on ten hits and two BB over five frames.

Pittsburgh are 6-2 in their last 8 road games and over is 14-6 in Pittsburgh last 20 road games and Pittsburgh are 16-7 in their last 23 overall. San Francisco are 1-7 in their last 8 home games and  are 1-4 in their last 5 overall. Over is 6-1-3 in the last 10 meetings in San Francisco and Pittsburgh are 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in San Francisco.

I don’t see a huge advantage for either side but there has been runs scored when these teams meet so something on the over to keep me interested…
