For the Friday game, the Diamondbacks will be bringing out Clay Buchholz for the start. In his 57.0 innings and 5-1 record this year, Buchholz has a 2.68 ERA with 51 Ks and 14 walks.

David Peralta leads the Diamondbacks in hitting this year with 126 hits, 56 runs, 19 homers and 58 RBI. Paul Goldschmidt is second on the roster with 119 hits, 71 runs, 24 homers and 61 RBI.

Over on the Reds’ side, the played the Mets this week. Cincinnati won the Tuesday game 6-1 but lost the other two games 6-4 and 8-0.

The Reds will be sending out Anthony DeSclafani for Friday’s start. Across 59.2 innings and a 5-3 mark this season, DeSclafani has a 4.98 ERA with 50 Ks and 18 walks.

Scooter Gennett leads the Reds this year on 131 hits, 67 runs, 17 homers and 68 RBI. Not too far back is Jose Peraza, with 126 hits, 60 runs and 39 RBI to his credit.

The Diamondbacks are 9-2 in their last 11 Friday games and 9-3 in their last 12 following an off day. Arizona is 19-7 in their last 26 road games and 1-4 in their last five games following a win.

Meanwhile, the Reds are 4-1 in their last five home games and 1-4 in their last five overall. Cincinnati is also 0-4 in the last four in game one of a series and 0-6 in their last six games versus a right-handed starter.

Buchholz has been pretty solid lately, as he’s allowed more than two earned just once in his last five starts (three in San Diego July 29) and has gotten a W in each of his last four outings. As for DeSclafani, he had a good outing in Washington but in his three starts prior he gave up a combined 12 earned. I’m going to stick with Buchholz here and take the D-Backs.
