The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies square off in game two of their four game NL West division set from Coors Field in MLB action on Friday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to build on a series opening 8-5 win over Colorado on Thursday. The majority of the Dodgers’ damage came via the long ball, as Brian Dozier, Cody Bellinger and Chris Taylor each had a home run and two RBIs, while Joc Pederson and Max Muncy each hit a solo home run in the win. Matt Kemp and Enrique Hernandez each had a double while Manny Machado and Justin Turner each contributed two hits. Yasiel Puig added a base hit to cap off the Dodgers’ offense in the winning effort. Ross Stripling gave up one run on four hits over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Caleb Ferguson got the win to improve to 3-1 while Scott Alexander picked up his 2nd save of the year. Kenta Maeda will start game two and is 7-7 with a 3.73 ERA and 123 strikeouts this season. In his career, Maeda is 5-3 with a 2.18 ERA and 57 strikeouts against Colorado.

The Colorado Rockies will look to bounce back after dropping game one on Thursday. Chris Iannetta led the Rockies by going 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs while Nolan Arenado matched that mark with an RBI as well as a double. Trevor Story added a double of his own while Carlos Gonzalez, David Dahl and Ian Desmond each contributed a base hit in the losing effort. Tyler Anderson gave up one run on four hits while striking out six over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Wade Davis took the loss to fall to 1-6 this season. Jon Gray will start game two and is 6-7 with a 4.73 ERA and 144 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gray is 3-3 with a 3.43 ERA and 50 strikeouts against the Dodgers.
Los Angeles is 1-5 in Maeda’s last 6 starts and 24-11 in their last 35 road games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning record. Colorado is 2-6 in their last 8 games overall and 10-3 in their last 13 home games while the under is 11-5 in their last 16 division matchups.
Maeda has done a good job at stifling the Rockies this season, however Maeda has also allowed 13 runs in 17 innings since the all-star break. Gray pitched well in his last outing, but the Dodgers are solid offensively, and while the wins haven’t been rolling in for the Rockies, the runs are still coming in and we hit on the over Thursday and I think we can make it two in a row on Friday.
