The Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers meet Saturday in MLB action at Comerica Park.

The Minnesota Twins could use a win here after losing four of their last five games. The Twins have allowed 15 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last eight games. The Minnesota Twins have lost five of their last seven games when allowing more than two runs. Offensively, Eddie Rosario leads the Twins with 137 hits and 66 RBI while Max Kepler and Joe Mauer have combined for 176 hits and 77 RBI. Kyle Gibson gets the ball, and he is 5-9 with a 3.60 ERA and 135 strikeouts this season. Gibson is 6-8 with a 5.52 ERA and 69 strikeouts in his career against the Tigers.

The Detroit Tigers also need a win after losing six of their last seven games. The Tigers have scored 10 runs in their last three games and three or less runs in nine of their last 12 games. The Detroit Tigers have lost five straight games when scoring three or less runs. Nicholas Castellanos leads the Tigers with 127 hits and 59 RBI while Jose Iglesias and Jeimer Candelario have combined for 186 hits and 90 RBI. Francisco Liriano gets the ball, and he is 3-6 with a 4.37 ERA and 73 strikeouts this season. Liriano is 3-1 with a 5.61 ERA and 30 strikeouts in his career against the Twins.

The Twins are 17-35 in their last 52 road games, 1-4 in Gibsons last 5 road starts and 11-5 in Gibsons last 16 starts with 4 days of rest. The Tigers are 4-10 in their last 14 during game 2 of a series, 2-5 in Lirianos last 7 starts on grass and 2-7 in Lirianos last 9 starts. The Twins are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Detroit, 10-4 in the last 14 meetings and 4-1 in Gibsons last 5 starts vs. Tigers.

I'm honestly not trying to back either one of these teams right now, but Gibson has been the better pitcher and the Twins have been the better, more consistent team. On the road this season, Gibson is allowing a 3.23 ERA with an allowed batting average of .210, while Liriano has an ERA over five with an allowed batting average of .243 at home. The Tigers have also won just two of Liriano's last 10 starts. For a decent price, I'd side with the Twins if forced to pick this blah matchup.
