The Line: Colorado Rockies / Los Angeles Dodgers --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies square off in the finale of their four game NL West division set from Coors Field in MLB action on Sunday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to bounce back and salvage a series split after dropping game three on Saturday by a final score of 3-2. Yasiel Puig hit a solo homer while Justin Turner went 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI of his own to make up L.A.’s scoring in the losing effort. Manny Machado added a double while starting pitcher Walker Buehler added a base hit as well to cap off the Dodgers’ offense in the defeat. Buehler threw seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits while striking out six, not factoring in the decision. JT Chargois took the loss with his 4th blown save of the season, falling to 2-4 on the year. Rich Hill will start game four and is 5-4 with a 3.62 ERA and 86 strikeouts this season. In his career, Hill is 0-4 with a 6.00 ERA and 24 strikeouts against Colorado.

The Colorado Rockies will look to win the series after their victory in game three on Saturday. Ryan McMahon led the Rockies with a three run walk-off home run while Carlos Gonzalez and Gerardo Parra each had a pair of hits in the win. Trevor Story added a double to cap off the Rockies’ offense in the winning effort. Kyle Freeland threw seven innings, giving up just two runs on six hits while striking out ten, not factoring in the decision. Bryan Shaw got the win to improve to 4-5 this season. Chad Bettis will start the finale and is 5-2 with a 5.67 ERA and 72 strikeouts this season. In his career, Bettis is 2-2 with a 5.14 ERA and 43 strikeouts against the Dodgers.
Los Angeles is 4-0 in Hill’s last 4 starts and 25-12 in their last 37 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Colorado is 0-4 in Bettis’ last 4 division starts and 3-7 in their last 10 games overall while the over is 6-0-1 in Bettis’ last 7 home starts. Colorado is 2-5 in Bettis’ last 7 starts against the Dodgers.
Hill has had zero success in his career against Colorado, however this could be a good chance for his to finally get over the hump. Hill has allowed two runs or less in each of his last five starts and in seven of his last eight starts while Bettis is fresh off of giving up nine runs in 4.1 innings in his last turn in the rotation. Bettis is a decent pitcher, but he’s had trouble keeping crooked numbers off of the scoreboard all season, especially at home where he has an ERA just under 10 this season. I’ll side with the Dodgers to earn a series split with a win on Sunday.
