The Indians racked up 14 hits with Melky Cabrera going 2-4 with a homer and three RBI’s while Jason Kipnis and Yandy Diaz each had three hits including homers and three runs driven in.
Mike Clevinger toes the rubber at Cincinnati for the second time this season. Clevinger comes off a 5-2 win (ND) with a run allowed on five hits and a walk through seven innings.
The Cincinnati Reds struggled in all phases of a 9-2 defeat at the hands of the visiting Diamondbacks on Sunday. Cincinnati starter Luis Castillo was charged with five runs over 5.2 frames before Keury Mella gave up four runs in the 9th on three homers.
The Reds offense consisted of seven hits and a base on balls Joey Votto connecting on a sacrifice fly to record an RBI while Jose Peraza and Eugenio Suarez had two hits each and scored.
Veteran right hander Homer Bailey draws the starting assignment versus Cleveland on Monday. Bailey comes off of a 6-4 loss at the NY Mets with five runs plated on eleven hits over 3.1 frames.
Cleveland are 6-2 in their last 8 overall and are 6-2 in their last 8 games on grass and are 11-4 in their last 15 road games. Over is 9-2-1 in Cincinnati last 12 Monday games and Cincinnati are 9-4 in their last 13 interleague games. Over is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings and Cleveland are 12-5 in the last 17 meetings.
The problem here is Cincinnati is unpredictable and Cleveland loses when they have sizeable advantages. Throw in that I can’t win backing Clevinger and this is the makings of a scary pick…
