Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins - 8/14/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves look to stay hot after winning six of their last eight games. The Braves have scored 23 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in six of their last 10 games. The Atlanta Braves have won 11 of their last 13 games when scoring more than two runs. Nick Markakis leads the Braves with 149 hits and 76 RBI while Freddie Freeman and Ozzie Albies have combined for 279 hits and 136 RBI. Anibal Sanchez gets the ball, and he is 6-3 with a 2.83 ERA and 84 strikeouts this season. Sanchez is 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA and 11 strikeouts in his career against the Marlins.

The Marlins are 23-49 in their last 72 road games, 1-6 in their last 7 Tuesday games and 4-1 in Richards' last 5 starts vs. National League East. The Braves are 5-1 in their last 6 home games, 21-9 in their last 30 during game 3 of a series and 4-1 in Sanchezs last 5 starts vs. National League East. The Marlins are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in Atlanta, 1-5 in the last 6 meetings and the over is 41-19-3 in the last 63 meetings.

There's simply no point in backing the Miami Marlins, as this whole second half this club has looked like the team we expected to see all year. The offense can't do anything and the inexperienced players are looking, well, inexperienced. The Atlanta Braves are a confident bunch that's clicking offensively and sees this as a real chance to put a dent in the NL East standings. Sanchez has also been one of the better and more consistent pitchers for the Braves this season. Price is a bit steep, but the Marlins aren't worrying anybody in their current form. Braves roll.
