Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

For Tuesday’s game, the Mariners will be going with lefty James Paxton. In his 139.0 innings and 10-5 mark this year, Paxton has a 3.63 ERA with 175 Ks and 37 BBs.

Leading the way for the Mariners in hitting this year is Jen Segura, with 140 hits, 78 runs and 55 RBI heading into this set. On Monday, Segura had four hits and an RBI.

As for the A’s, they’re rolling with Mike Fiers on Tuesday. Over his 124.1 innings and 7-6 record this year, Fiers has a 3.40 ERA with 95 Ks and 26 BBs.

Oakland’s top bat this season is Marcus Semien, who entered this series on 124 hits, 67 runs and 44 RBI. In the opener, Semien posted a hit and a run.

The Mariners are 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series and 0-4 in their last four Tuesday games. Seattle is 4-0 in Paxton’s last four Tuesday starts and 8-3 in his last 11 road starts.

Meanwhile, the A’s are 4-0 in their last four in game two of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Tuesday games. The under is 5-0 in the A’s last five in game two of a series and they’re 9-2 in their last 11 games versus a left-handed starter.

Paxton has been kind of hit-and-miss lately, but over his last three starts he’s been solid on seven earned over a total of 19.2 innings. As for Fiers, he’s been very sharp over the last couple of months, and hasn’t allowed more than three earned in an outing since way back on June 22. I’m going to go with Fiers to keep it going here and take the A’s.
