The Rays pounded out ten hits and walked twice Jay Wendle going 2-4 with an RBI and a run while Tommy Pham was 2-3 and drove in a run followed by Mallex Smith singled twice and scored both times.

Tampa Bay will start Ryne Stanek at the Red Sox in the series opener Friday. Stanek has made 39 appearances in 2018 and has gone 1-3 with a 2.45 ERA over 47.2 innings.

The Boston Red Sox have been piling up the wins but cooled off for the night in a 7-4 loss at Philadelphia on Wednesday. Boston starter Nathan Eovaldi allowed three runs (one earned) with Joe Kelly giving up a run to absorb the loss while Drew Pomeranz was charged with three runs in an inning.

The Red Sox banged out ten hits and walked four times with Mitch Moreland smacking a three run double while Mookie Betts delivered a pinch hit RBI single.

Boston gives Friday’s starting assignment to Brian Johnson who faces the Rays for the first time. Johnson knocked off Toronto 10-5 last time out with all five runs plated over seven frames.

Tampa Bay can’t be capped with their reliever by committee pitching but I will throw this out there…
