The Tampa Bay Rays shut down the Yankees offense for back to back wins after a 3-1 decision on Thursday. Tampa Bay starter Blake Snell tossed five scoreless frames to get the win before five relievers finished the job.

The Rays pounded out ten hits and walked twice Jay Wendle going 2-4 with an RBI and a run while Tommy Pham was 2-3 and drove in a run followed by Mallex Smith singled twice and scored both times.
Tampa Bay will start Ryne Stanek at the Red Sox in the series opener Friday. Stanek has made 39 appearances in 2018 and has gone 1-3 with a 2.45 ERA over 47.2 innings.
The Boston Red Sox have been piling up the wins but cooled off for the night in a 7-4 loss at Philadelphia on Wednesday. Boston starter Nathan Eovaldi allowed three runs (one earned) with Joe Kelly giving up a run to absorb the loss while Drew Pomeranz was charged with three runs in an inning.
