Minnesota Twins vs. Detroit Tigers - 8/17/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Jordan Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Twins look for another win after splitting their last 10 games. The Twins have scored 26 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in eight of their last 13 games. The Minnesota Twins have won nine of their last 11 games when scoring more than two runs. Eddie Rosario leads the Twins with 141 hits and 68 RBI while Max Kepler and Joe Mauer have combined for 187 hits and 78 RBI. Kyle Gibson gets the ball, and he is 6-9 with a 3.49 ERA and 139 strikeouts this season. Gibson is 7-8 with a 5.22 ERA and 73 strikeouts in his career against the Tigers.

The Tigers are 8-20 in their last 28 Friday games, 3-13 in Boyds last 16 road starts and 3-7 in Boyds last 10 starts. The Twins are 4-0 in their last 4 during game 2 of a series, 19-7 in their last 26 home games and 6-2 in Gibsons last 8 Friday starts. The Tigers are 17-6 in the last 23 meetings in Minnesota, 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and the Twins are 5-1 in Gibsons last 6 starts vs. Tigers.

The Detroit Tigers are watching their pitching staff get rocked nightly, and Boyd has an ERA of 5.60 on the road this season. The Minnesota Twins offense has shown up in a major way the last couple of weeks and Gibson has allowed three or less runs in five of his last seven games. Of course, Gibson and the Twins shouldn't be priced this heavily based on the overall play this season, but there's no way you can back the Tigers. So, to make myself feel better about the bet, I'll take the RL for added value.
