For the Sunday game, the Jays will be sending out Ryan Borucki. In his 52.0 innings and 2-2 record this year, Borucki has a 3.29 ERA with 33 Ks and 18 BBs.
Giancarlo Stanton leads the Yankees in hitting this year with 136 hits, 81 runs, 32 homers and 79 RBI. Miguel Andujar is also having a great year on 128 hits, 62 runs, 20 homers and 63 RBI.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re going with JA Happ on Sunday. Over 133.0 innings and a 13-6 record this year, Happ has a 3.86 ERA with 145 Ks and 41 BBs.
Toronto’s top hitter this year is Justin Smoak, with 106 hits, 53 runs, 18 homers and 60 RBI. In second is Yangervis Solarte with 101 hits, 50 runs, 17 homers and 53 RBI.
The Jays are 4-0 in their last four in game three of a series and 6-22 in their last 28 games versus a left-handed starter. Toronto is also 4-0 in Borucki’s last four road starts and 4-0 in his last four starts overall.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 62-23 in their last 85 home games and 2-7 in their last nine versus the AL East. New York is 35-17 in their last 52 games versus a left-handed starter and 37-18 in their last 55 home games versus a left-handed starter.
Across his last two starts in 9.0 innings, Borucki has given up eight earned on 15 hits, but he’s 2-0 in his last four games. As for Happ, he’s surrendered four earned in 19.0 innings as a Yankee and has won all three outings. I don’t have any reason not to think Happ will keep it going here so I’m taking the Yanks.
