The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Seattle Mariners meet in the rubber match of their three game interleague set from Safeco Field in MLB action on Sunday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to bounce back after dropping game two on Saturday by a final score of 5-4 in 10 innings. Cody Bellinger led the Dodgers with a solo home run and two RBIs, going 2 for 4 while Justin Turner and Max Muncy each added a solo homer to round out L.A.’s scoring in the loss. Matt Kemp and Yasiel Puig each added a base hit to round out the Dodgers’ offense in the losing effort. Rich Hill gave up four runs on four hits while walking five and striking out eight over six innings, not factoring in the decision. Caleb Ferguson took the loss to fall to 3-2 this season. Clayton Kershaw will start game three and is 5-5 with a 2.47 ERA and 108 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kershaw is 2-0 with a 3.46 ERA and 20 strikeouts against Seattle.

The Seattle Mariners will look to win the set after evening up the series at one win apiece following their victory on Saturday. Kyle Seager led the M’s by going 1 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs, while Nelson Cruz added an RBI as well in the winning effort. Robinson Cano added a pair of hits while Mitch Haniger, Ryon Healy and Denard Span each had a base hit as well in the win. Erasmo Ramirez gave up one run on three hits while walking four and striking out three, not factoring in the decision. Adam Warren got the win to improve to 2-1 this season. Roenis Elias will start the finale and is 2-0 with a 2.88 ERA and 18 strikeouts this season. This will be Elias’ first career start against the Dodgers.
Los Angeles is 10-2 in Kershaw’s last 12 interleague starts and 7-2 in their last 9 road games against a left-handed starter while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games overall. Seattle is 5-16 in Elias’ last 21 home starts and 2-6 in their last 8 home games while the under is 11-4 in their last 15 games against a left-handed starter. Los Angeles is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
Seattle took game two on Saturday in the rare balk-off fashion as a mental error cost the Dodgers the game. Something like that can be hard to rebound from right away, but let’s face it. The Dodgers have a huge pitching advantage on Sunday, and while it may be a coincidence, the Mariners have lost the last 12 games in which Elias has made an appearance. All in all, I like the Dodgers to win on Sunday and take the series behind their ace.
