The White Sox logged eight hits and six walks with Tim Anderson and Nicky Delmonico smacking solo homers while Adam Engel clubbed a two run bomb followed by Matt Davidson who ripped a two run single.

James Shields toes the rubber at Detroit looking for back to back wins. Shields defeated Kansas City 9-3 last time out with three runs given up through seven innings.

The Detroit Tigers struggled on the mound and at the plate in an 8-2 defeat versus the Cubs on Wednesday. Detroit starter Francisco Liriano  allowed four runs over 5.1 innings before Victor Alcantara gave up four runs in the 9th.  The Tigers posted eight hits and walked three times with Jim Adduci and Ronny Rodriguez driving in runs while Jeimer Candelario and Victor Martinez scored.

The Tigers send Matthew Boyd to the mound to face the White Sox on Wednesday. Boyd comes off of a 5-4 loss at Minnesota here he allowed four runs on four hits including two homers over 6.1 frames.

Over is 7-2-1 in Chicago last 10 overall and over is 7-2-1 in Chicago last 10 on grass and Chicago are 6-2 in their last 8 overall. Over is 5-2-1 in Detroit last 8 overall and over is 5-2-1 in Detroit last 8 on grass and Detroit are 16-37 in their last 53 overall. Chicago are 3-10 in the last 13 meetings and are 2-6 in Shields' last 8 starts vs. Detroit.

I think two struggling teams is a good reason to look elsewhere but I’ll throw this out there…
