For Friday’s game, the A’s will be going with LHP Sean Manaea. In his 155.2 innings and 11-9 record this year, Manaea has a 3.70 ERA with 107 Ks and 31 BBs.

Tops in hitting for the A’s this year is Marcus Semien, who entered this set on 134 hits, 74 runs, 10 homers and 46 RBI. On Thursday, Semien had a pair of hits.

Over on the Twins’ side, they’re rolling with Jake Odorizzi on Friday. Across his 130.2 innings and 5-7 mark, Odorizzi has a 4.55 ERA with 136 Ks and 53 BBs.

Eddie Rosario is the leading hitter for the Twins, and he came into this series on 146 hits, 80 runs, 22 homers and 72 RBI. In the opener, Rosario (and pretty much everyone else) had a hit, along with an RBI and a run.

The A’s are 16-5 in their last 21 in game two of a series and 2-5 in their last seven Friday games. Oakland is also 9-4 in Manaea’s last 13 starts and 2-6 in his last eight Friday starts.

Meanwhile, the Twins are 6-0 in their last six in game two of a series and 5-0 in Odorizzi’s last five home starts. Minnesota is also 2-6 in Odorizzi’s last eight starts versus a team with a winning record and the over is 21-8-3 in their last 32 Friday games.

Manaea has had a solid year but has also hit a few bumps lately. he’s 1-2 in his last three games, and in the losses he’s allowed nine earned over 6.2 innings. As for Odorizzi, he’s been pretty solid but not overly dominant and doesn’t have a quality start since July 22. All of that said, the A’s are simply the better team and should do the work here.
