The Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Royals meet in game two of their three game set from Kauffman Stadium in MLB Action on Saturday.
The Cleveland Indians will look to bounce back after letting one get away on Friday in a series-opening 5-4 loss on Friday. Yonder Alonso led the Tribe by going 2 for 4 with a pair of home runs and three RBIs. Michael Brantley added an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for Cleveland in the loss, while Yan Gomes went 3 for 4 with a double. Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez and Greg Allen each added a base hit as well in the losing effort. Mike Clevinger gave up three runs on four hits while striking out eight over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Cody Allen gave up back-to-back homers in the bottom of the 9th, taking the blown save and the loss to fall to 4-5 this season. Corey Kluber will start game two and is 16-6 with a 2.74 ERA and 166 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kluber is 11-6 with a 2.90 ERA and 143 strikeouts against Kansas City.

The Kansas City Royals will look to build on their walk-off game one win on Friday by trying for a second straight upset on Saturday. All of KC’s damage on the board was done with the long ball, as Salvador Perez clubbed a three-run first inning homer while Ryan O’Hearn and Hunter Dozier went back-to-back with solo home runs in the bottom of the 9th with Dozier being the walk-off winner for the Royals. Alex Gordon went 2 for 4 at the dish to round out the Royals’ offense in the winning effort. Brad Keller gave up two runs on six hits while striking out five, not factoring in the decision. Wily Peralta got the win in relief to climb to 1-0 this season. Heath Fillmyer will start game two and is 1-1 with a 4.57 ERA and 27 strikeouts this season. This will be Fillmyer’s first career start against Cleveland.
Cleveland is 24-5 in Kluber’s last 29 division starts and 23-8 in Kluber’s last 31 road starts while the under is 39-18-5 in their last 62 Saturday games. Kansas City is 1-6 in Fillmyer’s last 7 starts and 12-48 in their last 60 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 7-3-2 in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record. Cleveland is 5-0 in Kluber’s last 5 starts against Kansas City.
The plus money with Kansas City is tempting considering they have all of the momentum after their walk-off win on Friday and that Fillmyer pitched pretty well in his lone appearance against Cleveland, tossing three shutout innings in relief. However, while Cleveland has stumbled over the last few days, if there’s going to be a game to stop the slide, it’s going to be with Kluber on the mound. The Indians’ ace is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA against KC this season, and is 4-0 with a 2.21 ERA in his last five starts, each of which Cleveland has won. However I’m not paying these crazy prices so I’ll back Cleveland on the run line to get some kind of value out of the bet.
