The Seattle Mariners and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet in the finale of their three game interleague set from Chase Field in MLB action on Sunday.
The Seattle Mariners will look to complete the sweep after taking the first two games of the series, including a 4-3 win in game two on Saturday. Kyle Seager led the M’s by going 1 for 5 with a double and two RBIs, while Mitch Haniger and Denard Span each added a solo homer, with Span adding the go-ahead solo shot in the top half of the 10th inning. Jean Segura, Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz each had two hits, with Segura adding a double. Dee Gordon and starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc each added a base hit to round out Seattle’s offense in the win. LeBlanc gave up one run on four hits while striking out six, not factoring in the decision. Alex Colome got the win to improve to 5-5 while Edwin Diaz picked up his 50th save of the year. Mike Leake will start the finale and is 8-7 with a 3.90 ERA and 96 strikeouts this season. In his career, Leake is 5-3 with a 4.96 ERA and 40 strikeouts against Arizona.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to salvage a win and avoid the sweep after dropping game two on Saturday. A.J. Pollock went 2 for 5 with two RBIs while Eduardo Escobar added a solo home run to cap off Arizona’s scoring in the loss. Nick Ahmed and John Ryan Murphy each had two hits while Paul Goldschmidt, David Peralta and Jeff Mathis each contributed a base hit as well in the defeat. Robbie Ray gave up one run on five hits while walking four and striking out seven over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Jake Diekman ended up with the loss to fall to 1-2 this season. Zack Greinke will start the finale and is 12-8 with a 3.06 ERA and 165 strikeouts this season. In his career, Greinke is 5-1 with a 2.24 ERA and 60 strikeouts against Seattle.
Seattle is 7-2 in their last 9 road games and 4-1 in their last 5 Sunday games while the over is 20-8-2 in their last 30 interleague road games. Arizona is 23-10 in Greinke’s last 33 home starts and 13-6 in their last 19 interleague home games while the under is 6-1 in Greinke’s last 7 interleague starts. Seattle is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams in Arizona.
The plus money with the Mariners is tempting considering that Seattle has been the better team in the first two games of the series and Greinke hasn’t been spectacular over the last couple of weeks. However, you feel that Greinke is overdue to get back in the win column and his last two starts have come on the road, where Greinke has an ERA over one point higher than at home. Greinke also has allowed more than two runs at home just once this season, and I expect that mark to stay that way so I’ll lay the juice with the Diamondbacks to salvage a win here.
