The Minnesota Twins and the Cleveland Indians meet in game one of a three game AL Central division set from Progressive Field in MLB action on Tuesday.

The Minnesota Twins will look to rebound after dropping the final three games of their four game set with the Oakland A’s, including a 2nd straight 6-2 loss in the series finale on Sunday. Tyler Austin hit a pair of solo home runs to make up Minnesota’s scoring in the losing effort while Jorge Polanco went 2 for 3 and Mitch Garver added a double. Joe Mauer and Miguel Sano each contributed a base hit to cap off Minnesota’s offense in the losing effort. Jose Berrios took the loss, falling to 11-9 this season after allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out four over five innings of work. Kyle Gibson will start game one and is 7-10 with a 3.63 ERA and 149 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gibson is 3-8 with a 5.28 ERA and 60 strikeouts against Cleveland.

Cleveland Indians vs. Minnesota Twins - 8/28/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Indians will look to pick up some steam after snapping a four game losing skid with a 12-5 win against the Royals on Sunday, avoiding the sweep in the process. Jason Kipnis led the Tribe by going 4 for 5 with a home run, a double and four RBIs. Francisco Lindor, Greg Allen and Edwin Encarnacion each had two RBIs, with Encarnacion hitting a homer while Allen added a double. Melky Cabrera added an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for Cleveland in the win, while Yonder Alonso added a double and Michael Brantley went 2 for 5 to round out Cleveland’s offense in the victory. Shane Bieber got the win to improve to 8-2 this season after allowing four runs on six hits while striking out seven over 5.1 innings of work. Carlos Carrasco will start game one and is 15-7 with a 3.55 ERA and 167 strikeouts this season. In his career, Carrasco is 6-9 with a 4.00 ERA and 105 strikeouts against Minnesota.

Minnesota is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and 8-21 in their last 29 road games while the under is 10-4 in their last 14 games against a team wit a winning record. Cleveland is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and 59-22 in their last 81 division matchups while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 home games. Minnesota is 1-5 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams and 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Cleveland.

Both of these starters have had issues against their opposition in their careers, however the difference for me is that while Carrasco struggled against the Red Sox in his last turn up, he had thrown shutouts in three of his previous four starts. Gibson on the other hand, has allowed nine runs in 11 innings in his last two starts against the Indians and I think Cleveland gets to him again so I’ll back the Indians on Tuesday.
