The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Texas Rangers meet in the finale of their mini two game interleague set from Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas in MLB action on Wednesday night.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to complete the sweep after taking game one on Tuesday by a final score of 8-4. Manny Machado led the Dodgers by going 2 for 4 with four RBIs, while Brian Dozier added a solo homer and two RBIs and Enrique Hernandez went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Justin Turner, Cody Bellinger and Joc Pederson each had two hits with Bellinger adding a triple and Turner belting a double. Max Muncy and Chris Taylor each added a base hit as well to round out L.A.’s offense in the winning effort. Walker Buehler gave up two runs on four hits while striking out four over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision, while Caleb Ferguson picked up the win in relief to improve to 5-2 this season. Alex Wood will start game two and is 7-6 with a 3.60 ERA and 117 strikeouts this season. This will be Wood’s second career start against Texas.

The Texas Rangers will look to salvage a series split after dropping game one on Tuesday. Ronald Guzman led the Rangers with two RBIs, while Elvis Andrus and Nomar Mazara added a base hit each to round out Texas’ scoring in the losing effort. Adrian Beltre, Jurickson Profar and Robinson Chirinos each added a base hit as none of Texas’ eight hits as a team went for extra bases in the loss. Ariel Jurado took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits over just 2.2 innings of work to fall to 2-4 this season. Mike Minor will start game two and is 10-6 with a 4.40 ERA and 104 strikeouts this season. In his career, Minor is 1-2 with a 2.56 ERA and 34 strikeouts against the Dodgers.
Los Angeles is 5-1 in Wood’s last 6 road starts and 11-2 in their last 13 interleague games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-0 in Wood’s last 4 starts overall. Texas is 4-0 in Minor’s last 4 starts and 0-7 in their last 7 games against a left-handed starter while the under is 7-1-1 in their last 9 Wednesday games. The under is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams and 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Texas.
It almost seems like a tale of two pitchers as you have Wood who’s pitched well but the Dodgers have lost his last three starts, against Minor who has been up and down but Texas has won his last four starts. With that said, as tempting as plus money is with Minor on the mound considering he’s been Texas’ best pitcher for a while this season, the fact is that the Dodgers have one of the most dangerous lineups from top to bottom in the league, and Wood, despite not having wins and losses on his record to show for it, has pitched quite well, allowing three runs or less in each of his last 12 starts. I expect the Dodgers’ offense to carry over for at least one more game, so I’ll lay the juice with the Dodgers here.
