The Detroit Tigers and the New York Yankees meet in game three of their four game set from Yankee Stadium in MLB action on Saturday.

The Detroit Tigers will look to salvage a win after dropping the first two games of the series, including a 7-5 loss in game two on Friday. Jim Adduci led the Tigers with two RBIs, while Niko Goodrum added a solo homer and Mikie Mahtook and Ronny Rodriguez each had an RBI in the losing effort. Dawel Lugo went 3 for 4 and Victor Martinez had two hits while James McCann added a double and Jeimer Candelario, Nick Castellanos and JaCoby Jones each added a base hit to cap off Detroit’s offense in the losing effort. Jordan Zimmermann allowed four runs, one earned, on three hits while striking out six over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Joe Jimenez took the loss, falling to 4-4 this season. New York Yankees vs. Detroit Tigers - 9/1/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Andy Marlin-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Yankees will look to push for the sweep on Sunday if they can pick up their third W of the set in Saturday’s matchup. Brett Gardner and Gleyber Torres each went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, with Gardner adding a home run and a double. Miguel Andujar and Aaron Hicks each had a solo homer while Austin Romine added an RBI of his own to round out New York’s offense in the win. Luis Severino allowed three runs on six hits while striking out ten over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Zach Britton got the win to improve to 2-0 while David Robertson picked up his 5th save of the season. Masahiro Tanaka will start game three and is 9-5 with a 3.97 ERA and 128 strikeouts this season. In his career, Tanaka is 1-2 with a 4.40 ERA and 27 strikeouts against Detroit.

Detroit is 1-6 in Norris’ last 7 starts and 17-46 in their last 63 road games while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games overall. New York is 1-4 in Tanaka’s last 5 starts and 9-4 in their last 13 games overall while the under is 6-2-1 in their last 9 games against the AL Central. The over is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

Tanaka hasn’t been a world beater as of late, as the Yankees have dropped four of his last five starts, but at least New York’s offense is there to pick up the Yankees if the pitching falters. Norris hasn’t pitched since the end of April, and when he was pitching, he wasn’t doing a whole lot besides giving up four runs in three innings of relief and pitching just seven innings as a starter this season. The Tigers were out of the race a long time ago and throwing Norris to the Wolves isn’t going to help matters. Give me the Yankees on the run line.
