The Boston Red Sox and the Atlanta Braves meet in game two of their three game interleague set from SunTrust Park in MLB action on Tuesday.

The Boston Red Sox will look to push for the sweep on Wednesday after opening the series with an 8-2 win in game one on Monday. Ian Kinsler led the BoSox by going 2 for 5 with a double and three RBIs. Xander Bogaerts added a double and two RBIs while Mookie Betts, Eduardo Nunez and Christian Vazquez each had an RBI with Nunez and Vazquez each adding a double to finish off Atlanta’s scoring in the win. Andrew Benintendi went 2 for 4 with a double, while J.D. Martinez and Mitch Moreland each had a base hit in the victory. Nathan Eovaldi threw 3.1 scoreless innings in the start, not factoring in the decision. Brandon Workman picked up the win to improve to 3-0 this season. Rick Porcello will start game two and is 15-7 with a 4.27 ERA and 171 strikeouts this season. In his career, Porcello is 2-1 with a 3.32 ERA and 16 strikeouts against Atlanta.

Atlanta Braves vs. Boston Red Sox - 9/4/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves will look to bounce back after starting the series on the wrong foot on Monday. Ozzie Albies belted a solo home run and Kurt Suzuki added an RBI to round out Atlanta’s scoring in the loss. Johan Camargo went 2 for 3 while Ender Inciarte, Freddie Freeman, Nick Markakis and Dansby Swanson each chipped in a base hit to cap off Atlanta’s offense in the losing effort. Touki Toussaint took the loss, falling to 1-1 this season after allowing three runs on four hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings of work. Sean Newcomb will start game two and is 11-7 with a 3.85 ERA and 138 strikeouts this season. This will be Newcomb’s second career start against Boston.

Boston is 12-0 in Porcello’s last 12 interleague starts and 39-15 in their last 54 games overall while the over is 14-6-1 in Porcello’s last 21 starts overall. Atlanta is 2-5 in Newcomb’s last 7 starts and 3-8 in their last 11 home games while the over is 4-0 in Newcomb’s last 4 starts against the AL East. Boston is 26-9 in the last 35 meetings between these two teams and 13-3 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams in Atlanta.

You have a pair of hurlers in Porcello and Newcomb who have been touched up lately, with Porcello who’s allowed 12 runs in his last three starts spanning 17 innings for a 6.35 ERA while Newcomb’s given up 18 runs in his last 19.1 innings over four starts to result in an 8.38 ERA. I’m not overly comfortable picking a side here, so I’ll side with the over.
