Jose Rondon, Matt Davidson, Kevan Smith and Adam Engel each chipped in a base hit to round out the White Sox offense in the winning effort. Detroit is 0-4 in Zimmermann’s last 4 road starts and 1-6 in their last 7 division matchups while the over is 20-6-1 in Zimmermann’s last 27 division starts. Chicago is 4-1 in their last 5 division matchups and 5-1 in their last 6 game 3 matchups while the over is 10-4-1 in their last 15 division matchups. The over is 10-0 in Zimmermann’s last 10 starts against the White Sox.
I really liked what I’ve seen from Kopech up to this point, and in just 3 games he’s already a better betting option for me than Zimmermann who, while having a couple of one run starts here and there, has allowed 20 runs in 20.1 innings against the White Sox this season, for an 0-2 record and an 8.85 ERA. No thanks. The White Sox are still playing the better baseball of the two lately, and should have no problems winning this one behind another strong showing from Kopech.
