For Wednesday’s matchup, the Phillies will be sending out RHP Nick Pivetta. In his 141.0 innings and 7-10 mark this year, Pivetta has a 4.66 ERA with 168 Ks and 41 BBs.

Heading into game two, Cesar Hernandez and Odubel Herrera were tied for the Phillies hits lead on 129 knocks apiece. On Tuesday, Herrera had a hit and a run; Hernandez had two hits and three RBI.

Over on the Marlins’ side, they’re going with Sandy Alcantara on Wednesday. Across 5.0 innings and a 1-0 mark this year, Alcantara has a 1.80 ERA with two Ks and five walks.

Tops in hitting for the Marlins is Starlin Casto, who came into Tuesday on 150 hits, 72 runs, 11 homers and 50 RBI. In game two, Castro had two hits and an RBI.

The Phillies are 4-1 in their last five in game three of a series and 2-5 in Pivetta’s last seven starts versus the NL East. Philly is 1-4 in Pivetta’s last five starts versus a team with a losing record and the over is 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games.

Meanwhile, the Marlins are 2-5 in their last seven in game three of a series and the over is 3-1-1 in their last five Wednesday games. the over is 7-3-2 in Miami’s last 12 in game three of a series and they’re 0-4 in Pivetta’s last four starts against them.

After giving up 11 earned runs across a pair of starts, Pivetta came back with 5.0 innings and one earned versus the Cubs his last time out. As for Alcantara, he’s got just the one start but looked solid aside from the high number of walks. Still, the Phillies are the better team so I’m going with them.
